Baptism

My Baptism
by Ryan Anthony

Usually I stay at home to eat and to sleep, but yesterday I did all new things! Mommy and daddy had been telling me about this day for awhile. They told me I get to be a part of the Church and get original sin wiped away. I thought that all sounded great.

I wore my daddy's Baptismal gown and his special Baptism ring, too. I also wore shoes for the first time; Aunt Katie got these for me. According to all the people holding me, I looked handsome or like an angel to others.

I heard mommy say this is the most important day of her life- the reason why she's here. Then Fr. Beekman said the same thing in his homily, "Elizabeth and Anthony (is that mommy and daddy?) this is the most important day of your lives as you seek eternal life for your child."

My godparents - Uncle Chris and Aunt Katie - helped me at the baptismal fount. Uncle Chris held me while Father poured the water on my head and Aunt Katie held my candle for me. I didn't cry while Father poured the water on me, because I knew how important this moment was and I wanted to be good. But as soon as he finished, I let out a good cry just to make sure everyone knew that it was cold water.

Grandma Jean and Grandpa Joe had a great party for me afterwards. Lots of my family was there to kiss me and give me gifts to remind me of my Baptism. Thank you everyone. It was the best day of my life! I feel so close to Jesus.
