Sprucing Up for Christmas

Ryan had his first haircut today! The feel of the scissors against his neck visibly tickled him.

Christmas Morning?

You'd have thought so! Curious little guy ripped into a gift already! We stopped him before he saw what it was. Whew! That might have lead to some Santa confusion early on.

Although snow makes Christmas tree cutting picturesque, the warmer day made for a pleasant tree hunt.

Meeting Santa

Ryan seemed unfazed by his first meeting with Santa and Mrs. Claus. He didn't cry but he certainly didn't smile either!

oooh ahh

It wasn't long before Ryan popped up to the window to watch me hang the outdoor lights. He was enamoured with the colorful twinkles, following me as I went to each bush.

Gobble Gobble

Ryan enjoyed "big people" turkey at his first Thanksgiving dinner! He also found the familiar taste of sweet potatoes comforting.

Monday Morning

Ever think to yourself, "I wonder what Ryan is up to?" Well, if you picture him by the front window then you're probably guessing correctly. He loves watching cars and people go by. Morning - as seen here - is a favorite time to watch, especially when a big yellow bus zooms by.

After watching out the window for awhile, Ryan decided to play with his toys. This morning, though, he realized that I had a video camera in hand and needed to investigate it first. (Press play.)

okay, plenty of Monday left to go... in fact I'm sniffing out a diaper...mmm...

WANTED

for destroying Ryan's first pumpkin. Now I've heard of people smashing pumpkins, but since when do we have to keep squirrels away! This little varmint has been feasting on the pumpkin for hours. It's mid afternoon presently, and if he keeps up I'm positive that he will be belly up on our patio furniture by evening. He's fearless, too, because even with pictures being taken he has not backed away from the delicacy.

New Achievement

Ryan can now pull himself up to stand (holding onto something for support, of course) and enjoys trying out the stairs.

Autumn Bliss

On Saturday Anthony and I took Ryan to one of our most favorite places: Tanner's Orchard. Ryan had a wonderful first experience, joined by both sets of grandparents and his Aunt Katie, Uncle Mike, and cousin Maddie.

I guess Ryan knew his little head wasn't filling the space, so he made the call to give a wave.posing with the pumpkin/gourd creations

While Maddie enjoys her first pony ride (bopping up and down and hanging on like a seasoned rider),Ryan allows the gorgeous weather and buzzing sounds of orchard fun to lull him asleep.

Maddie picked and ate her first apple. Throughout the weekend she continued to try out her new skill, joyously biting into apples. up close with a caterpillar

Although Ryan's 3 teeth (almost 4!) don't allow him to bite into an apple like his cousin, he still got a thrill playing with the apple tree. Next year, bud!

Lazy Sunday

After his favorite meal - squash - Ryan kicked back with his bottle. Someday we'll have to instill a no feet on the table rule of course, but for now it's rather cute.
