More than the streamers, bubbly toasts, and party horns of any New Year's Eve celebration, nothing quite turns the pages on time like back to school. It's that distinct smell of freshly sharpened pencils and the look of crisp clean edges of notebooks loaded into backpacks that boldly announce the passage of time. It's the toothless grin of a first grader asking for an extra hug before he starts his first day. It's an eager kindergartener so proud of his robot backpack and matching lunchbag. It's the lyrics in "The Best Day," which just have to coincidentally mention a five year old, that render a mommy unable to hold back her tears. It's knowing our two little buddies are full time school boys. The pages have turned; our next chapter begun.
